With spiritual roots, Meditation has entered the mainstream as a method of stress and pain and anxiety reduction. Meditation has been used in hospitals in cases of chronic or terminal illness to reduce complications associated with increased stress that involving depressed immune systems.  Some psychotherapists include meditation in their practice to help clients reduce anxiety, distractibility, stress, and achieve a greater sense of aliveness by living more in the present moment.

What to Expect

There are many form of mediation. Some involve the repetition of a mantra, word or phrase, others instruct students how to follow their breathe and to observe thoughts and feelings that enter the mind without reacting to them. Meditation can be practiced while sitting, standing or walking.

In a guided meditation, the teacher may use imagery to take you on a mental journey intended to help heal or open up creative solutions to a dilemma  that a client has not yet thought about.
